I am not disappointed at all

I bought this book because I needed more practice tests for my students and also my little brother. I was not too sure about the quality after reading some reviews, but there’s not much material to use for the new exam so I bought the book anyway in addition to some other prep books. I am not disappointed at all. There are 10 tests and all of the details match the College Board description of the new exam. The passages and question types are very similar to the few tests the College Board has released. The passages for the essays are also exactly what I would expect on the real exam.
My students usually had the most trouble with CR on the old SAT, so it’s really important to me that the Reading sections of new SAT practice exams are as close to perfect as possible. This book meets my expectations. All of the basics are fine – there are 52 Reading questions in each test, the passages cover topics in science, history/social studies, and literature, and there are appropriate graphics. The distribution of question types is also very close to what I found on the released exams. The “words in context” questions are very similar to the College Board exams, and the vocabulary level is pretty much the same. There is a good focus on close reading and analysis of evidence, and all of these types of questions have appropriate line references. Some questions also require students to make inferences from the passage and graphic, which is what the new exam requires. Of course the traditional SAT questions, the ones about point of view, main idea, and tone, are all here as well.
After solving the tests myself and comparing them to the College Board released tests, I am confident that I can use this book with my students.

The formats were pretty close, but after buying this book

Some of the reviews are surprising. The version of the book I am using is the most recent, and I have not found any errors or missing material. There are ten tests as advertised, and all of the tests stick to the format of the new SAT.
Before buying this book, I was using previous ACT exams to prepare students for the new SAT format. We worked through the ACT English tests to get the students familiar with the new SAT Language and Writing section. We used the ACT Reading tests to do the same for SAT Reading. The formats were pretty close, but after buying this book, there’s no need to use ACT material. I also purchased the College Board book and sadly later realized that the tests were online for free. Like another reviewer mentioned, I used the AP English Language essay to mimic the new essay format. The essays in this book are great in terms of extra practice material.
The downside of this book, for students at least, is that it doesn’t give any strategies for mastering the new exam. Then again, the book isn’t advertised as having set strategies for the different sections. It is advertised as a set of practice tests, and that’s exactly what it is. If students need more practice in order to refine their skills, this book is great. Overall, these practice tests serve their purpose well.

Great resource

Lots of reviews of this book. I've been using it with students. I'm baffled at the negative reviews.
Some of the early reviews seem to be spam or deliberately misleading, like a lot of reviews on Amazon. They obviously hadn’t read the description of the product or read or used the book. I'm not sure why people post reviews without using the material in the first place.
The book follows the new 2016 standards exactly. There are so few that do so far, this turned out to be a godsend. The College Board has little material right now on the new tests, and without any history and not even any exams yet, so far this is the greatest resource I've found that has any decent prep material at all. We used all of the test examples and my only regret is not having more practice questions to use.
There may have been errors in the answer sheet, but they appear to have been updated in the copy I got.
If there was an e-book copy of this, it would be even better and more useful, but as it is, it's well worth the price.
Helpful and extremely timely in a largely empty field.
